First California interview. Paul Hawken is a World renowned environmentalist and author. His contribution to the project might at first seem unlikely, except that the education of girls has proven to be the 6th most effective solution for reducing atmospheric carbon. Paul's analysis fits with the statistics seen by Grace Church- the Bubaare university graduates all have fewer children, who they educate and are better equipped to take care of. Over the next 30 years this will help to reduce deforestation as smaller population growth means slower growth in demand for building land and materials, less over farming and soil depletion. It is counter intuitive, but Paul has the research and statistics to prove that the long term effects of initiatives like Grace Church's scholarships will have geater impact on the health of the planet than any of the hair shirt/holier-than-thou ideas we tend to focus on.

Audio only interview with Twino Buhungiro, who was Head Master of Bubaare Secondary School when the Grace Church Scholarship began. It should be no surprise that his wife, who we also interviewed, is called Grace!

WHO WE ARE

James Forbes is a Napa Valley-based filmmaker from Scotland. His focus thus far has mostly been educational mini documentaries, but this story deserves a fuller examination and needs the 90minutes of a feature film. The experience gained from telling stories in under 7minutes means that James knows how to pack a lot of information into a restricted space so this film will not hold back.
